Inspired by our namesake and grandmother, Sylvia, who founded, owned, and operated Sylvia’s Super Sub Shop of Allen Park, Michigan, we are honored to carry on her name through Sylvia’s Catering. Nana Sylvia was a pioneer female entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses in the community and building a reputation of excellence over her 60-year career. Sylvia’s Super Sub Shop’s tenure in Metro Detroit is a testament to Nana Sylvia’s integrity, determination, and commitment to quality - all values we uphold in our business today. 

Chef Alison and Elise have a combined 28+ years in the hospitality industry. Their careers took them across the US to Washington DC, Chicago, Santa Clara, Denver, Dallas, and Savannah. With both front and back-of-house training, we promise a seamless experience starting from your first inquiry.

About Elise: Graduating from Central Michigan University, Elise began her career in hospitality traveling the country and later attended culinary school in Colorado. She’s proud to bring her expertise back home to Michigan! Elise has experience in all hotel operations positions, primarily focusing on food and beverage, and ended her corporate career as the Assistant General Manager for a full-service hotel property in Metro Detroit.

About Chef Alison: After attending Culinary school in Texas, Chef Alison traveled the United States providing food for high-profile events of up to 4,000 people including the 2016 presidential inauguration, Super Bowl 50, luxury weddings, and corporate events. Born and raised in Northern California, Chef Alison’s food approach has always focused on fresh, local ingredients. With over 20 years of catering and restaurant experience, Chef Alison has a wide repertoire of expertise and showcases traditional dishes with modern twists while focusing on rich flavors. In one phrase, Chef Alison’s food has been described as “a hug from grandma” and “the best thing I’ve ever eaten.” We may be biased, but we agree.
